Filing Fees

I.  FILING AN APPEAL FROM A BANKRUPTCY COURT JUDGMENT, ORDER, OR DECREE: 

Pursuant to Item 14 of the Bankruptcy Court Miscellaneous Fee Schedule (28 U.S.C. § 1930), the fee for an appeal or cross-appeal of a bankruptcy court judgment, order, or decree is $293, in addition to the fee of $5 that is collected under 28 U.S.C § 1930.  If the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit authorizes a direct appeal, an additional $157 will be charged.

Fees for the filing of an appeal from a bankruptcy court judgment, order, or decree are to be made to the U.S. BANKRUPTCY COURT.

2.  FILING AN APPEAL FROM A BANKRUPTCY APPELLATE PANEL JUDGMENT, ORDER, OR DECREE: 

Pursuant to Item 1 of the Court of Appeals Miscellaneous Fee Schedule (28 U.S.C.  § 1913), the cost for filing a notice of appeal of a BAP judgment, order or decree, is a total of $605 (which includes a $5 filing fee for the notice of appeal, and a $600 fee for docketing the appeal at the BAP). 

Fees for the filing of an appeal from a BAP judgment, order or decree are to be made to the Clerk, U.S. Court of Appeals

3.  OTHER BAP FEES

For conducting a search of the BAP's records, $34 per name or item searched. This fee applies to services rendered on behalf of the United States if the information requested is available through remote electronic access.

For certification of any document, $12.

For reproducing any document, $.50 per page. This fee applies to services rendered on behalf of the United States if the document requested is available through remote electronic access.

For reproducing recordings of proceedings, regardless of the medium, $34, including cost of materials. This fee applies to services rendered on behalf of the United States if the recording is available through remote electronic access.

For retrieving a record from the Federal Records Center, National Archives, or other storage location removed from the place of business of the court, $70.

For copies of opinions, a fee commensurate with the cost of printing, as fixed by each court.
